Sick Day

Alaina has had a virus causing her to have a very high fever the past few days. Harry stayed home with her yesterday, and I get to stay home with her today. She still has a fever and isn't eating much, but she is on the mend.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Alaina got a Cinderella kite today and the weather was perfect to try it out! 

We had a great time playing outside. Harry had to complete his 20 mile run today since yesterday was so yucky... he didn't have as much fun as we did. Only 3 weeks until his marathon! 

Meeting Isla

Today, Alaina, Harry, and I finally got to meet little Isla. She was born Friday, February 15 (Jessica, Siggy are the proud parents and Liam is the wonderful big brother). Alaina was happy to get to play with her friend, Liam, and to meet her newest friend, Isla. 

It's a little hard to hear, but Alaina keeps repeating, "I like you." Liam comes over to make sure that Isla has a paci and Alaina tells him, yes... she does. Finally Alaina tells Isla, "I love you." It was very sweet.

Thanks to Jessica, Siggy, and Liam for having us over. We enjoyed meeting Isla!

Story Time

Alaina loves to read, and one of her favorite books is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? The other night Harry recorded her "reading" it to me before bedtime. 

Snow!!!

It snowed in Charlotte for the first time in several years, and this evening we headed out to enjoy it. Check out our snow pictures.

Family and Friends

Alaina has been talking about her family and friends lately. Her cousins are one of her favorite topics of discussion, especially her cousin Madison. A few weeks ago Madison sent Alaina her previously loved, not old or used, Care Bear. Alaina loves the Care Bear and now sleeps with it every night. We took the photo below to say "Thank You" to Madison and let her know how much she loves her Care Bear. 

 

Today, one of our family's best friends had their second baby. Alaina is very excited to meet her new friend, Isla, and is happy for her friend Liam. We took this video of her tonight making a picture for Isla (we didn't prompt her to do this) and talking about seeing Liam.

Cookie Time

Today Alaina and I made some cookies when we came home from school. She had a lot of fun helping. We were going to make heart cookies for Valentine's Day, but decided on Snicker-doodles instead.

The Baby Cow and Other Farm Fun

Today, we traveled to South Charlotte to visit with Harry's parents and to meet some one of the many baby cows born on their farm over the past few weeks. Alaina was so excited to see the baby cows but was a little afraid once we approached one.

Here we are approaching the baby cow. Harry's dad has him, and his momma, shut up in a barn for awhile since he wasn't thriving at first. Now, the little guy is doing much better and his mom (a first time momma) is doing a good job taking care of him. If you can't tell by Alaina's face, she was a little scared. 

I petted the little guy but Alaina was too scared. The momma was mooing quite a bit while we were in there, so I think that made her nervous.

After our visit to the farm we stopped by the airport (just a few miles away from Harry's parent's house) to watch the airplanes take off. I love this picture as Alaina tries to touch the airplane (and you can see the city in the background).

Coloring

Alaina loves to color. Today after we came home from school and Stephanie's, Alaina walked in the door, took off her backpack, and immediately started coloring. She didn't even take off her jacket. It was pretty cute and I was able to snap a picture of it. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary

Tonight, we had Harry's parents over to celebrate their 40th anniversary. We enjoyed spending time together and Alaina had a blast hanging out with her grandma, grandpa, and Aunt Laura.
