More Snowy Pictures

It is still snowing outside (yippee!) I'm sure I will post more pictures tomorrow, since it is going to snow all day, but here are the current conditions.

Joey got out of the house this morning, took 2 steps in the snow, started shivering, and headed back into the house. Our tough guy!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Most of the southeast is getting hit by a massive winter storm, including Charlotte. We have been getting beautiful snow since 5 PM. The following pictures were taken at 9:30 PM.

This is our patio furniture; while it is not the prettiest picture, it does show our snowfall amount. I'm estimating a little over 2 inches so far.

The tree in front of our house. Look at all that beautiful snow still falling! We are supposed to get snow till tomorrow evening. I can't wait to see how much accumulates! Since there is no school or now work tomorrow, Harry and I are all for the snow!

Rainy Sunday

What's the best thing to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon?

Bake the world's best chocolate chip cookies!

So I did.

Chocolate Chip Cookies (from Mom)
1 cup Crisco
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. water
2 eggs
(blend the above till creamy)
add 2 and 1/4 cup of flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
mix, add morsels, bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees
Enjoy!

So We Meet Again

60 degree weather, a day off of school, and I'm running again.

It has been one month since the half marathon.
I am out of shape but enjoying it.

Room in the Inn

Last night, Harry and I, along with 30 other volunteers from our 7th grade Just For group, hosted 5 homeless men from downtown Charlotte. We made up beds, gave them clean towels and toiletries, made them dinner, and watched movies with them. Overall, it was a good experience. It felt good to give back to those less fortunate. The youngest of our guests was a 26 year old man. He was very nice and told us that he slept outside on Friday night (when the low in Charlotte was 16 degrees). Our one disappointment was that we were expecting 10 guests and only got 5. This on the same day The Charlotte Observer reported that homeless shelters in Charlotte are full. We can only hope that everyone who needed a warm place to stay last night, found it.

Merry Christmas, Part II

Yesterday, Harry and I celebrated Christmas with the Thompson family.

Harry's dad made marshmallow guns... Laura and Harry really liked them.

Dad, enjoying the war he created.

Harry, Laura, and Dad all open the presents the same way, using a pocket knife. I think this is very weird; however, they argue it is neat. You decide.
