Happy Halloween!

Happy Pumpkin and...

Evil Pumpkin wish you HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

The Amazing Maize Maze

On Sunday Harry, Joanne, Shannon, and I went to the Amazing Maize Maze in Huntersville, NC. We were told that if we could complete the Ultimate Challenge (collecting 12 puzzle pieces and 12 kernels of knowledge) and make it out of the maze in under 3 hours and 30 minutes we were geniuses! We finished the Ultimate Challenge in just under 2 hours. I'll let you think about that one...

Ready for the Ultimate Challenge.
We decided to warm-up by completing some of the mazes at the entrance.

Harry, lost in the color maze.

Joanne, successfully completing the color maze.

Shannon, being color blind, could not complete the color maze.
Instead she took on the no left-turn maze. She made it!

Me, Joanne, and Shannon stopping for a picture.

Harry, charging on through the maze.

We made it!

A view of the maze from the bridge out.

Harry and I on the bridge.
After the maize maze we went over to Joanne's for some dinner and pumpkin carving (as well as bad scary movies - Clay, we watched American Werewolf in London).

Shannon, stabbing, or carving, her pumpkin.

Joanne loved scooping the goop out of the pumpkin.

Shannon with her finished pumpkin... a spider and a web.

Joanne with her finished pumpkin... a scull and cross bones.
I carved my pumpkin last night. It will be up for viewing very soon.

Thompson Family Reunion 2008

This past weekend Harry and I traveled to south Charlotte for the annual Thompson Family Reunion.

The pigs... yummy!

Harry, Bob, and Russ inspect the chopping block... yes it says "manufactures of solid toilets". Appetizing!

Pig pickin' before the choppin'.

Russ, styling as always!

Chopping

This year even I got to chop; I quickly found out that it was because the clever weighed 10 pounds!

While the men were chopping, the women were enjoying a tea social.
Cindy and Betsy dressed for the event.

Our lovely tea spread. Everything was delicious!

Margaret, enjoying a cup of tea and some of the finger food.

Harry, Laura, and I stuffed full of BBQ and desserts.

Stumptown Tractor Show

Today Harry and I traveled to Denver, NC for the Stumptown Tractor Show. It proved to be very entertaining. Check out what we found.

Yes, that sign reads "I'm Voting For The OLD MAN & The HOT CHICK".
Ummm, ok, what more can you say...

Oh, yes! Finally, a place where I can get my "Electrical Simulation" for only $5.00.
Come on, GitchaSum!

We really wanted to purchase a lovely teakettle/spoon wind chime.
They did not take Visa so it didn't work out. Darn!!

A giant bulldog? I guess it was advertising a mower company.

Before we left we made our way over to the Tractor Pull.
This was the most impressive tractor, styling with chrome wheels! He did win his division.

Racin!

On Saturday Harry, me, and a truck load of friends went to the Bank of America 500 held at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte. It was great fun and GREAT people watching!

Part of our gang... me, Joanne, Ricky, Shannon, Harry, and Nicole, at our tailgate (in a field near Lowe's Motor Speedway)

Harry, enjoying his Guitar Hero (a prize in my Mini Wheat box)

Saturday also happened to be Joanne's 28th birthday... we all helped her celebrate with cookie cake and champagne. (Champagne out of red Dixie cups, what could be more NASCAR?)

This random gentleman (and I use the term gentleman loosely) thought he was Joanne's boyfriend for the day... or maybe forever.

As you can tell, he was classy (like most NASCAR fans).
He later became furious when he found out that Harry is friends with Joanne and proceeded to kick our cooler (that Harry was carrying at the time) and tried to punch Harry in the mouth. He was not successful in his fight (perhaps it was because he was slightly intoxicated).

On the way to the race we stopped by a friends tailgate.

Unfortunately there were Gamecock (gag) fans at the tailgate. We thought this picture was funny though.

Then it was time for the shuttle trip to the gate... that was quite the experience.

Harry, me, Shannon, and Ricky on the Food Lion bus.

Joanne on the bus, just before she fell of the bench.

Harry and his new best friend.
I will say this about NASCAR fans, most of them are very friendly!

Finally, we made it to the race! Aaron Piersol (the Olympic swimmer) started the race.

Woohoo! Racin!

It was pretty chilly and very loud (we were in the 4th row) but overall we had a great time (thank goodness for ear plugs).

Harry, waiting for the shuttle to take us back to the truck.

Roman the Russian drove us ALL the way back to the truck, thanks to a little back rub from Joanne. Here you see Joanne and Shannon enjoying the golf cart ride back to our truck.

Harry, me, and Nicole were just happy we didn't have to walk.
