Each Sunday evening during the summer, the Town of Davidson hosts a concert on the green. This week Harry and I walked the 2 miles to the green to enjoy the "Band of Oz".

Day Trip to Bald Head Island
On Wednesday, after surviving the flood waters in Southport, our group took the ferry to Bald Head Island for a day trip.
Shannon, Joanne, and Laura riding in the back of Harry's truck to the ferry (southern style!).
Here comes our ferry... the "Ranger".

All the ladies, enjoying the ride.
Jessica, Laura, Shannon, me, and Joanne
After about a 20 minute ferry ride we made it!
Once we arrived we ate lunch at Eb and Flo's Steam Bar... it was delicious!
After lunch, we were off to explore the island on golf carts (no cars are allowed on the island).
Harry in the driver's seat... Siggy and Jessica are riding behind us.
"Old Baldy" the lighthouse on the island.
Harry and I on one of the public beaches.
My favorite house on the island... Siggy and Laura were taking a picture in front of this house when the owners, who were just moving in, invited them in for a tour. They said it was as beautiful inside as it was outside.
Another beautiful public beach.
Returning to the carts so we can catch the ferry home.

Dinner at Provisions (Flood Included)!
On Tuesday evening of our beach trip, the group decided to travel to Southport for dinner at a local fish joint... Provisions.

Shortly after being seated, Southport encountered one of the highest tides in the past few years. The tide was so high, that it flooded the outdoor seating area, the inside of the restaurant, and the whole street. The water got so high inside the restaurant, they had to cut the power while we were still eating because the water was almost as high as the outlets and the staff was concerned about electrocution.
Our feet as the water started to rise... after a few minutes we all took our shoes off so they wouldn't be ruined!

Harry and I getting ready to walk to the car.
We decided to walk out of the flood area and then have the car pick us up. We didn't want our weight to weigh the car down since the tide water was up to the car doors.
Harry walking up the street to reach our car. Notice how high the water is on Harry... almost to his knees and that there is a car parked behind him on the side of the street.
Harry looking back towards Provisions and the parking lot. Thank goodness for high ground!
All of us at the end of the evening. Both cars made it out of the flood but had minor damage to the ground affects. Siggy was able to fix both before we left Southport.
Oak Island, NC
Last week Harry, I, and a group of friends rented a beach house on Oak Island. We had lots of fun together and really enjoyed eachothers company.
Harry and I the first night we arrived, after a visit to the beach, of course.
Day 2: Another beautiful beach day!

Camping at Stone Mountain
This weekend Harry and I went to Stone Mountain, NC for camping and hiking.
Shortly after arriving we hiked to Stone Mountain Falls.
This is the top of the falls.

On Sunday, we hiked to Cedar Rock. On the way we saw this old, stone wall. It was beautiful and it went on forever!
This was the scene from the top of Cedar Rock.

On Cedar Rock we saw this little tree that had split this rock.
Next, we hiked to Wolf Rock. During the hike we came across this abandoned cabin that Harry and I dubbed "snake cabin" because nothing other than snakes would live there.
The view of Stone Mountain from Wolf Rock.
Finally, we made it to Stone Mountain!
After 7 miles, 3 trails, 3 destinations, 2 falls (tripping, not water - me), and countless stairs we made it home safe and sound (but exhausted)!
